What is Pony Camp?

Part riding lesson, part craft party, all-day fun! Children spend the day caring for real ponies, making keepsakes and riding — with everything set up and supervised at the Bella Riding School yard. No prior riding or horsey experience necessary, just a keen interest in ponies and a thirst for fun and adventure!

A typical day at Pony Camp

Here's how a full day unfolds, from the welcome badges to the final ride.

Arrive & say hello

Everyone's welcomed at the clubhouse with a name badge, a cupcake and a first look at the ponies. We settle in on the grass and start with a colouring competition while the rest of the group arrives.

Fresh air & outdoor fun

We head off on our nature walk and scavenger hunt around the stable yard — the perfect way to get to know each other and burn off some early-morning energy.

Snack time

We dig into our snack-packs and relax on the grass, often with a pony-and-riding Q&A while we munch.

Meet & groom the ponies

A hands-on grooming lesson — brushing, plaiting manes and decorating with bows and ribbons, finished off with a Pony Parade in the arena!

Obstacle course & free play

We let the children loose in the arena for an on-foot obstacle course and free play — or, if the sun's shining, sprinklers and water play.

Lunch time

We settle down for lunch on the deck. Just let us know about any special diets beforehand and we'll take care of it.

Get crafty

From paper crafts to clay and beading, we spend supervised time cutting, sticking and shaping a keepsake to take home and remember the day.

Saddle up for a ride

The big moment — a supervised group ride around the arena. Every inexperienced rider is led by one of our facilitators for comfort, safety and fun. Helmets and ponies provided!

Real ponies, gentle magic

Our ponies are calm, friendly and used to little hands. Children learn to brush, plait and feed them — building confidence, trust and a whole lot of love along the way.

Good to know

What ages is Pony Camp for?

We tailor each camp to the group, so it works beautifully for little pony lovers across a range of ages. Tell us how old the children are when you enquire and we'll make sure everything's pitched just right.

Do the children need riding experience?

Not at all. Our ponies are gentle and every ride is fully supervised, so complete beginners are very welcome — most children have never sat on a pony before.

What should they wear?

Comfy clothes that can get a little mucky, and closed shoes with a small heel if you have them. We provide the riding helmets. Bring a jacket if the weather looks iffy.

When does Pony Camp run?

During the school holidays, throughout the year. Tell us which dates you're after when you enquire and we'll let you know what's coming up.

What's included?

A full day from 8am to 2pm at Bella Riding School: the grooming lesson, a nature walk and scavenger hunt, crafts, the supervised group ride, plus lunch and snacks. You just bring the children.

Where is it held?

Every camp runs from the Bella Riding School facilities — the ponies, arena and clubhouse are all there, so there's nothing for you to set up.
